12 Hours

The sun rose on Saturday morning and with the summer clouds came a beautiful sunrise show.   We had no particular plans for the day.

Then came the call.   That call.   And in an instant, the world was forever changed for my dear Erik and his family.   I didn't have the chance to know his brother as he was a man dedicated to a career in our Special Forces and spent much of his life away, doing his job to make a difference.

I have lived through much loss and I know that life goes on without the person who is gone.   But by the time the sun set Saturday night, and plans were made for family members to gather, the world was different for those who loved this man.

Still, the skies lit up with beautiful colors and even a rainbow that was completely unexpected.

Rest in Peace

Death in the family...such a curtain on the day. Almost too sad for such lovely skies.
