Do You Love Oprah?

I have had an on again/off again relationship with Oprah over the past 5 years or so.   I went through periods of time where I watched her show almost every single day.   And I was very interested in her final season because it was so big.   But now she has her own (OWN) network and I am nearly over it.   There are maybe two shows that I enjoy and the rest seems like it falls short.   I know many people are enjoying her LifeClass series.   To me, it seems like a remake of past shows.   And now she is going to do yet another show, although going outside the studio rather than bringing her guests to her.   We'll see if that's interesting.   Again, on again/off again with Oprah.

Here's the real thing though.   Oprah often presents herself as so real and understanding of people's difficulties.   And I believe that she truly cares.   I love that about her.   However, in the next breath she seems to enjoy showing viewers her multi-million dollar homes, her expensive furnishings, and the lavish gifts she gives to those she loves.   That seems so much in contrast with the meaning behind her show.

I always loved her O List at Christmas.   Who wouldn't want to be in the audience receiving all that great stuff?   I would!    I looked online this week to see if she has a list this year.   She does.   It seems filled with very expensive soap, VERY expensive pajamas, and other lovely items that so many of her viewers could never afford to buy.   I just didn't get it this time.

Oprah, I'm just not feeling the love right now.

As a side note, I saw Stedman in the San Jose airport several years ago.  He is just as tall and handsome in person as he is on TV.   Swoon.

Ya, I got over her years ago. I too enjoyed her 'lists' of favorite things, but enough is enough.. she needs to go do better things with her life and ALL that money.

Give people free dental work, free clothes, a few roofs over people's heads or pay off their debt. She used to do things like that and I'm wondering if all of that just got left behind when she no longer had a show to talk about it.
I so agree that she could put that money to better use by helping people with the "necessary" things instead of luxury items.
The new network is filled with so many re-runs! I did read a piece about the OWN network, and how it just isn't getting viewers. I know the new Rosie show tanked.
I watched the last three years faithfully. Mostly I enjoyed the interviews no one else got!
Kudos to seeing Stedman! Swoon is right!

I usually don't watch any television during day, so I think I must have missed most of her daytime show. Not a big fan of her new network.

I never watched her during the day, as I don't watch much TV period. I did try to do the Lifeclass thing and I appreciate that she is attempting something a little different with that, but I could not stick with it.

The problem with being one of the 1% is you forget that the 99% can't afford anything but a $10 nightgown.
when she was on regular tv it was fun to watch her. some of her shows did not hold my interests. but i often wonder if she was really like that or just trying to fit into someone else's mold of who they thought she should be. now that she is on OWN ... our cable company does not offer it on the lower priced cable line up & we are watching our money ... so i don't get to see her any more. i would say to her, she needs to get a clue & think of putting her OWN network on a place where everyone can watch. makes more sense. (:
I'm an On Again/Off Again person, too. I've seen her LifeClass several times and really was inspired.
But I wish she knew what her goals were or what she wants to do. She seems to be all over the place these days....perhaps she needs to look within herself and decide how sh wants to spend this second half of her life.
She doesn't need to work for money anymore. She has no dependents to leave all her wealth to.
So why is she working and what does she want to do with her life?
