Grandma Flowers

There are a few flowers that just remind me of my grandma.   They seemed to grow in bushes around her house and garden and always seemed so fragrant, at least in my memory.   I suppose that's why I think of some flowers as "grandma flowers" and wish that I could have a home surrounded by them all.   The few that come to mind are Hydrangeas, Peonies, and Lilacs.   I don't think I could successfully grow Hydrangeas and Peonies, but I have a big Lilac bush and a new one in the ground for the future.   The fragrance from the one bush is so awesome, it fills the air.   I look forward to having two in full bloom and imagine an even greater lush fragrance when I step outside.   I highly recommend them.

Do you have Grandma Flowers?

Enjoy your Sunday!

No grandma flowers YET.. but David wants to remove an over-grown evergreen from the front walkway area and I think I want to put in a hydrangea. :-)

I can almost smell your lilac bush. YUMMY
I do have Grandma flowers--My whole flower garden is full of them, and they are just what you mentioned, hydrangeas, peonies, foxgloves and morning glories to name a few--All my favorites, and the Lilac too! :-)

I have peonies and lilacs. You should try peonies ... they are quite hardy and seem to thrive despite dry weather! I'm in S. CO and rain has been really scarce here, but my peonies are flower buds ready to open up any day now. Hugs ... Marcia
I certainly do!... This Old house has a whole stand of them, plus one next to my garage door that is hard to manuever around when I pull out, but I hate to chop it down. Love them! They were in my yard on Staten Island growing up, too...

Nope .. I will be happy if the morning glory seeds I am planting survive the caterpillars that seem to lurk .. that's a gorgeous bloom

No, alas I never knew either of my grand mothers, one died over 20 years before I was born and the other when I was three. But lilacs evoke memories of my mom...

I'm like Madge -- I only knew one Grandma and she passed when I was 12. At that, she lived in Canada and we lived, well, in Nebraska. But I do have lilacs and peonies and viburnum and all of those grandma-typish bushes in my yard. :)
