Boots, Some Other, and a Mad Monkey

I have written here before about my love of Ariat and their products.   One reason I wear their boots is because I have a high instep and find it very difficult to find boots that are comfortable.   Most Ariats work for me, although there have been a few exceptions.   Now I have come across their line of fashion boots as opposed to the Western style I usually choose.   I reeeeeealllllly like this style and hope they come to a store near me so I can try them on.   I just got 2 new pairs of boots for my birthday (thanks, Honey!) but these may be calling my name.   (Don't read this post, Honey, just move along.)   Christmas isn't that far away, right?

Now for the "Other".....

The temperatures are cooling down as we speak.   Oh yes, finally a day that is going to be in the 80's!!   It should give me some renewed energy and that's a good thing.   I have been spending time each day with my new horse, Henry, and we are a good team.   He's been sore footed and we aren't riding as long, but we are working on that and he should be ready for long trail rides soon.   He had some deep thrush in his heel that has caused inflammation.   With a sore heel, he has been landing toe first at times which causes stumbling.   The vet and farrier are coming out again next week to come up with a shoeing plan that will work to keep him comfortable.   I absolutely love this horse.

I am still looking for a new person to give Cooper a forever home.   A lady took him home to try him, but she needs an older (pushbutton) horse for her and the rest of the family.   And so I keep advertising and hoping the right person will come along for this very very sweet boy.

My chickens are barely laying eggs for us because most of them are molting.   This is a more major molt than I remember from last year.   Poor naked chickens look so ragged, leaving feathers stuck to the bushes and filling the floor of their coop.   On top of that, Taffy is broody.   She does not spend the day sitting on eggs at all, but each night I have to take her from one of the bushes and put her to bed.   Silly chickens.

Lastly, and most important of all, I want to share something with you and ask that you read Shannon's post.   She has bravely shared every detail of her battle against breast cancer since being diagnosed early this year.   Her reason for being a mad monkey is the gross difference between a surgeon's fee for a breast augmentation consultation versus his fee for a breast reconstruction consultation.   It's a consultation fee!!   With this being October, it's a good time to learn what individuals go through while they are coping with the challenges of this disease.   Shannon is not looking for words of sympathy.   She just wants to create awareness so others may help with letter writing if they choose.   She is a strong monkey.

And that is all for today.   Lots of words, only one photo.   I hope you all have a very nice Thursday and find a way to enjoy this transition into Autumn....my very favorite season.

I like boots too, but to be honest, these don't look like fashion boots at all, but rather some good old fashioned shit kickers. Merry Christmas? Hope you get them.
