A Day of Ease

After a week in meetings, on the computer, driving back and forth, lots of mental work, Erik often wakes up on Saturday ready to take on the work on this little ranch that he loves so much.   He told me he would take care of all the animals.   He fed everyone, released the chickens, turned the horses out for the day, cleaned stalls, and so much more.   And when he climbed aboard his John Deere lawn tractor, I left to get my hair done.   Then a quick stop at the tack store and home, to find he was gone buying groceries.   What a guy!   It's not that my chores are 24/7 hard core work, but having him take over for a day is really a treat.   Thanks, Honey!

 P.S.    When I walk outside, the lilac fragrance fills the air.   Oh my goodness, everyone should have lilacs to enjoy in the Spring.

David took down a dead redbud tree yesterday that provided our home with a bit of privacy... but it was dead, an eyesore, and needed to come out. I told him I would like to plant lilacs there now, but he read that they don't do well in Virginia due to some mildew that is is susceptible to, but there is a Korean Lilac that does okay so we may try that.

Lilacs are gorgeous and I envy you a bit, because we have to wait a few month before they bloom. They have a wonderful scent.

I hope you've enjoyed your day off, you are a blessed girl... what a Man (read: Husband)!!!

We don't have lilacs on our farm, but remember them from growing up. What a sweet fragrance. Always nice when our partner surprises us with some free time:)

When we lived in Alaska we had beautiful lilacs growing outside our house. There is nothing like their fragrance!

Your photos are gorgeous! I can "smell" those lilacs now. :) just a side note. I like to look at blogs photos and try to guess where they're from before reading the bio's. I guessed yours at central Ca. I know, I'm weird. My sister lives in Fairfield, east of SF and some of your hills looked familiar. :)

Hello Denise, I found you through mutual followers and I love your blog. I agree that everyone should have lilacs, but for some reason I have had a hard time growing them. I do have a small bush that I planted two years ago and it looks like it made it through the winter, so I'm crossing my fingers that it will take off and do good this year. Nothing smells like Spring, like the smell of lilacs. I am your newest follower and I would love to invite you over to follow me back.
