Fire on the Hill

A vegetation fire broke out last evening across the road.   Our awesome CDF crews had it contained before dark with several trucks, crews, 2 planes, 1 helicopter, a few road graders, and several people with cameras.  Okay, so I didn't actually help contain the fire, but I took over 200 photos.   Wildfires are so scary and can travel so quickly with our windy conditions.   The winds pushed it up the hill which is away from the houses, so that was fortunate.   And they stopped it at the ridge so they didn't have to fight down the other side, from what I could see.  Today's winds were swirling and stronger, which could have made a similar fire much worse.   Thankfully no homes were destroyed and nobody was injured.

I love this photo at the very end of the day.   Saturday night on a holiday weekend and you know where the firefighters are....they're on duty!!!

Happy you are safe . . . certainly a scare with the wind and the dry weather. Excellent photos !
So glad the weather has cooled off to help the firefighters ... great pictures, love your caption on the last one. Way to go guys, maybe a gal or two were on the line too.
Scary and fascinating. So glad that this one didn't get out of control and that no one was injured. I agree with you, that last photo of the firefighters on the ridge is super!

This has to be terrifying for a homeowner and animal owner. Hope you have a few water hoses around your house for keeping things watered down if necessary. Stay safe this fire season!!!

I used to hate fire season, followed by landslide season. Now we only get the regular four seasons. Glad to hear everything is OK.

Just so happens that my son is a CDF firefighter/engineer. He just may have been one of the guys working this fire. Just for the record...they love their job. Mothers' on the other hand are in a continual state of worry about them.

LOVE that last photo. I'll bet those firefighters would like a copy of that. :)

That must be very scary to see looming in the distance. I'm just glad nobody got hurt and no one lost their homes.
