Making an Effort

I am not a very engaging blogger, this I know.   I read lots of blogs throughout the day or week, but just don't comment that often.   I'm not sure why that is.   I suppose I can't always think of something to say in that moment.   I enjoy "knowing" many of you and feeling like you are my far away friends. I appreciate your visits and the comments you leave.

I feel I should say that I'm sorry for not engaging with more of you on a regular basis.   It seems a little rude that I don't reciprocate more.   But then again, we all have different reasons for blogging.   Right?   I have never really known why I do this.   I love sharing my photographs.   I have hesitated to make this a personal diary/story of my life.   I love to write, have always loved to write, but I guess I'd rather do that in a private format rather than throwing it out for the world to read.

So what's my point?   Heck, I don't know!   I was reading more blogs this morning and realized that I don't feel like a very good blogging friend to many of you.   I just wanted to acknowledge that.   I am going to try harder to make the effort.

It takes alot of time and effort to visit and comment -- we don't always have that time (myself included.)

I'm just glad you stop by now and again and always enjoy your thoughts. xo

Denise, I comment from time to time because I want you to know how much I love your photos. I am close enough to go to all the places you photograph but due to a 40+ hour a week job I don't always have the time. I'm hoping I run into you someday at one of your favorite spots. And guess what, it could have happened because I was in the Big Sur area the same time as you just recently. Please don't fret about responding to me. I won't be offended if you don't but please don't stop posting your beautiful photos!
That is a gorgeous photo! I just love it.

No need to explain! I visit a lot of blogs, and don't comment on all of them regularly either.

you don't have to say anything clever or wise. just say 'nice!' or 'good post' or 'hello'. :) it's just nice to know you've come by.

You and I chat a lot anyway in other online arenas so no need to say 'boo' on my blog. I used to comment and visit more blogs than I could count, but as I have aged over the past few years I simply ran out of steam I guess. Now I just do what I can and that's good enough... it should be the same for all bloggers unless of course their blog is their monetary income and then I think they owe it to comment to a few people... most of the bigger bloggers don't though. Selfish bitches. LOL
It does take time and some just aren't people people...:)JP

We each treat this experience differently, part of the reason I like it so much. I receive gorgeous photographs from you and from a part of the country I have visited but haven't been to in a few years. I like your touch with color and what it is your eye sees through the lens.

I really like hearing about your sisterhood with the Diane gal and life in Iowa because I grew up there too. Not sure why that gives me/us some affinity, but it feels a bit that way.

Your "crowning jewel", setting you apart from all others would be your photos of the ocean, the bays, the seals, the color, warmth, peacefulness . . .

I comment and stop by blogs when I can. Which is not always on a regular basis!
I could have written this post, too, word for word. I read all the blogs in my sidebar and lots of others that I check from my dashboard's reading list. I don't leave comments behind nearly often enough ... but sometimes I just don't feel like I have anything to contribute. Other times I just feel quiet. I believe that it's okay, no matter what we do.
This is a post I could have written, aside from the amazing photo. I feel the same way--I would love to sit and read blogs all day and comment on each one, and respond to the e-mails, but real life pulls me away, and so I do what I can. My advice that you didn't ask for, is don't be so hard on yourself, you have a great blog, stay the course! :-)

I appreciated this post very much, mostly because I am the same way. I visit blogs but frequently don't comment, so how do you know I was there, right? I think if I have nothing original to add to the conversation that it seems a waste, but it is nice to say "howdy" every now and then.

i started out blogging to share my photos in the hopes i could sell cards that i make using them .. my blog has evolved over its life and now i seem to write blather a lot more than i ever anticipated i would .. i dont however get too personal .. i mean i write about the cats and my beautification and other shallowness but i dont really share truly personal stuff .. i dont think blogs are the place for that .. in fact when i read a blog thats very personal i dont comment and dont read it too often makes me feel like a peeping tom

i like your blog just the way it is and i think you leave comments just fine
Lots of people don't leave comments!

Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
