I Didn't Expect That

I've had a pain on my scalp for over a week that isn't being helped by Tylenol or Ibuprofen or Aleve.   I thought it was related to some tightness in my neck so I went to the chiropractor.   She did two adjustments on me and still no relief.   So I went to the doctor yesterday.   She thinks it may be early symptoms of Shingles, although I don't have a rash of any sort.   She started me on an anti-viral and it's making me feel a little crappy.   Three times a day for ten days.   And the pills are huge.   I hope if this is Shingles, that these pills stop it in its tracks.   The scalp is a worrisome location for the rash because it can spread to your eye and the rash can also cause hair loss.   I'm due for a Shingles shot which I was going to discuss when I had my annual exam.   Just a little behind schedule....Wish me luck with this.   I know two people who had Shingles this year.   One was very severe and landed her in the hospital.   The other milder yet still pretty awful to live with.

Yesterday we also went over to the coast to enjoy the cooler weather and pretty cloudy skies after our Monday rain.   It was beautiful over there, just cool enough for wearing hoodies.

I have an appointment later this morning to have my hair done.   It might be a little uncomfortable with my scalp pain, but putting it off is not a good option because it's not easy to get another appointment.   So I will rally.   It's usually something I really enjoy, but we'll see.

Fingers crossed this doesn't develop into a Shingles rash.   That would not be a good thing at all.

Have a good Wednesday and if you're 60 or older, get your Shingles shot!

My brother had shingles a few years ago but it was on his leg. He said he couldn't even have a blanket touching it because it was so painful. And my brother-in-law also had it on his head like you. He couldn't wear a baseball hat or even comb his hair. For both of them it lasted for weeks.
I hope yours goes away quickly!

Well, I was told by my doctor that it would cost $500 and I had to negotiate with my insurance company. That is an off-putting challenge since 1 in 3 who have had chickenpox get it. I guess I will have to wait.

Turning 60 is the pits.... it's when my physique started to fall apart and health problems cropped up. Sucks being in this decade of my life.

I have had two really small cases of shingles. I wasn't allowed to get a shingles shot until year after my last episode. I was very lucky. My sister also had a light case but it was near her Eye.. She made out OK. Good luck. Often the pain occurs a couple of weeks before the rash. We will keep a happy thought.

I'm glad you had it looked at and hopefully the meds will keep things at bay. My mother had the Shingles a few years back and it was no fun.
As always, love your captures - so serene and expansive!
I hope you feel better, and soon! We had a patient in our office just yesterday who had to cancel her cruise this past summer to Ireland because of shingles -- the medication knocked it out very quickly and she's leaving on her "alternate trip" next week. --And she's getting the shot! :-)

ouch .. i hope this is not shingles but if it is, i hope you've nipped it in the bud ... BTW .. my doctor said there's only a 60/40 chance the shot will deter shingles ... i had chicken pox 3 times as a kid ... first as an infant then when i was 8 or 9 both times very mild .. the 3rd time when i was 16 and that was a true rash all over for days episode .. i am hoping that keeps me safe ...
