Soaking Wet

We've had some rain the past couple of days but I thought it was about over.   I went out to feed the donkeys this morning and everything is soaking wet, including Harry and Gunny.   Poor little guys, they looked pitiful.   They must've been caught in a downpour because normally they go in their shelter when it rains.

Yesterday morning dawned just after the coldest part of the storm.   This little hummer was sitting at the feeder shivering.   I was a little concerned but watched him for a while and saw him fly away after filling his tank.

The wind and rain has knocked off several of the lilac blossoms, and I noticed yesterday that the Mockingbirds are munching on them too.   I love those birds but I wish they'd find something else to eat since my 2014 lilac blossoms are reaching the end of life already.

I could paper an entire wall with photos of my hummingbirds and lilacs.   Yesterday I was standing right next to the large lilac bush, soaking in the pretty and the awesome fragrance.   Above me, a hummingbird was buzzing around.   All of my senses were delighted at that moment.   Do you have moments like that when you just want to freeze time for a little while and soak it in?

I hope Spring has finally landed at your place, or at least is right around the corner.   I'm looking forward to all of your photos on your blogs.   Happy Wednesday!

i could almost smell the lilacs from your post - a scent like no other. love the hummers, too. haven't seen any here yet.
I so miss lilacs. True sign of spring for most of my life, but too hot to grow them where I live now. If I close my eyes, I can smell them.

Beautiful pictures as always! I love hummers and could spend all day watching them. Things are just starting to pop out of the ground here. More each day. I love this time of year when things start growing. Each day brings new surprises! Now they tell us that we are suppose to get snow, freezing rain. etc thursday into friday! Around here plants have to be tough!

Oh, I love lilacs and hummers. So jealous of the flowers and really enjoying all of your pretty photos while we wait for our turn!
Oh, it sure looks warm and welcoming where you are... we're still so grey and chilly.

Happy Wednesday to you too!! I absolutely love it when the hummingbirds do a fly by. Especially when they kind of hover near you. I always get excited when I see them come and feed at the feeder outside the kitchen window. I even have one male that likes to hover at the window and look inside. Our lilac bushes have barely just got their leaves budding out so we are awhile away from having any of those wonderful blossoms. Hoping we don't get a freeze this year that freezes all of buds. (That happened last year) Love your pictures. Wanted to let you know too that I/we nominated you and your blog for the Liebster Award. Our post about it will be up on Friday April 4. Come on over and have a look. Totally up to you on if you participate but wanted to tell you how much I/we enjoy reading about the happenings at your place.
