What I Meant....

Someone very close to me who lives in this house mentioned that my previous post sounded as though I'm feeling down or sad or something.   I'm not.   What I meant was that it can be hard to find inspiration to write something when you are living in a routine, even though that routine is very nice and normal and all.   I appreciate all your comments about my blog and my routine.   It's just about sitting down in the morning after I've fed the donkeys and before I have let the chickens out for the day, and thinking of something to say.   Kind of like sitting on a rock eating a pinecone and pondering whether I should write about it or just climb the tree and think of something later.

These squirrels....I never get tired of watching them.

And thanks for the input about Instagram.   I can see where it could be entertaining once you connect with some kind of community.   I'll keep at it and see what happens.

Have a nice Tuesday.

No Story To Tell

I've been thinking about this blog.   I realized this morning that I have no story to tell and perhaps that's why I've lost interest in it.   I like to share my photos.   Other than that, there's just not a lot to say about my daily life.   It's a routine.   It's not all that interesting.   I don't travel as I did when I was younger in a different lifestyle.   I am not a DIY person by any stretch of the imagination.   The remodel on the house was last year and I have no plans to do something like that again.   So what's my daily story?   Just a routine.

I've started sharing photos on Instagram.   Isn't that supposed to be photos from your phone?   It seems to me that people share a lot of photos from their big cameras.   Is that breaking the rules?   I have absolutely no idea as I haven't really figured out the whole Instagram thing yet.   I take photos and videos from my phone but they are usually of the animals or something trivial, interesting only to me, and not to the Instagram world.    As you may know, I have thousands of photos that I love to share, but are they Instagram photos?   I don't think they are meant for that.   *shrugs*

As I continue to think about this blog, I also consider whether I am just a boring person.   Maybe I need to find a way to add more excitement or interest or whatever to my life.   It really is hard when you have animals to care for on a daily basis.   It's a responsibility that I don't take lightly and the truth is, it's not easy to find someone to trust to stay here when we are both away.   If I had someone who was 100% reliable, I would get in my truck more often and head up the road for a few days.   You can't just have someone throw food at the animals twice a day and have that be good enough.

Anyway, I'm not sure where I'm going with this ramble.   It's Friday, 6am, and I'm just writing some thoughts.

Here's a photo to go along with it....Mellow Yellow, a very favorite color of mine.

Have a wonderful weekend.   Our fair started this week and the weather is relatively cool, so Sunday may be a good time to visit and eat a little bit of that "really bad for you" fair food.

War of the Worlds?

That's what one of my friends called it when we had an intense thunder and lightning storm on Saturday night.   Other comments on Facebook were from people who have lived here 40+ years and have never seen rain in July.   I grew up in the Midwest where thunderstorms are quite common.   I have to say, the intensity of the lightning and thunder was more than I ever remember.   The photos people captured around the area are incredible.   Those people are much braver (or dumber) than I.   I wouldn't step outside the house, let alone venture anywhere to take photos of that kind of lightning.   If you're on Facebook, you can look at our local station, KSBY.   They have hundreds of photos on their page that people have sent in.

I played it much safer and took photos of the skies before and after the storm, but not during.   We had over 2 inches of rain.   There was no record for rain amounts in July because it's never happened. We don't have rain in July.   This was due to a tropical Hurricane Dolores and the fact that the Pacific waters are warmer than normal.   Yes, there's a lot of discussion about El Nino this year.   If this is a sign of things to come this winter, we better brace ourselves.

I have hundreds of new photos.   And so the sorting begins again :-)

Thanks for stopping by.   I hope you have a great Tuesday.

Seize the Moment

We have had very muggy weather this past week.   Not like you have in the Midwest or South or Northeast, but muggy compared to our normal.   The good thing to come of it?   Beautiful sunrises, daylong puffy clouds, and gorgeous sunsets.   I've been out with my camera at 6am trying to capture the 180 and sometimes 360 degree awesome skies.   The dogs don't know why I'm out on the property with them so early and they don't care, just that I'm hanging with them.   The donkeys don't know why I'm standing around in their paddock while they're eating breakfast and mostly they don't care.   Except Gunny.   He thinks I might as well give him scritches while I'm there.

I don't multi-task as well as I used to, but I found I am able to scratch my donkey while kneeling down in muck boots and take a one-handed photo all at the same time.

Seize the moment!   Have a great Friday and a wonderful safe holiday weekend.

What Have They Done?

Blogger made some changes this week.   I didn't dig in enough to understand them because most, I'm sure, don't apply to my needs...
