I Don't Do Humid

I grew up in Iowa.   Land of humidity.   Really, who cares when you're a kid and it's all you've known?   We still went outside to play and the only discomfort was when we tried to sleep at night in an upstairs bedroom that wasn't air conditioned.   We didn't have central air conditioning and it wasn't until our teens, as I recall, that our parents put a window a/c upstairs.   So we would take our pillows and blankets and head downstairs to sleep on the living room floor.   Again, who cares when you're a kid and your bones and joints don't ache when you get up off the floor?

Coastal air is not humid air.   It's moist but not humid and it offers a clean deep breath when you're walking along the beach.   We are inland and often benefit from the coastal air pushing inland.   When  we get offshore air, it pulls crap (yes, a meteorological term) from the inland valleys.   We don't like that, not one bit.   The air in the inland valleys is notorious for being dirty and full of pollutants from the farming and lack of cooling breezes.

Yesterday was bad bad bad weather.   Our breezes came to a standstill and a hot pocket (not the kind you eat) settled over us and brought the stifling temps to 106.   It was awful.   The kind of air that you can't take a breath.   Not fit for man or woman or chickens.   I took care of Beau in the morning and headed to Cambria for a while.   I should have stayed all day and all night.

I see little vintage trailers online and imagine having one, parking it somewhere at the coast, and just hanging out.   I just don't do humid.

I'm not a big fan of humid either. Maybe this polar vortex will swing your way next week..we are supposed to be in the 80s which sounds fantastic to me! Love your beach shots- you should get you a trailer!
I'm from Florida...and can only shake my head and call you a real light weight

Oh, I hate humid, too. It's humid here right now and we huddle inside. I prefer the cold to the humid, because I can always put more layers on, move around a bit to get warm. 106 is way too hot, too, even if it is "dry heat" (which I don't think yours was!).
Hoping you get a respite soon!

Humidity sucks.... I'll be in the little trailer at the beach right next to yours. :)
No, I don't do humid either...hate it, loathe it! And that is why Aruba is so wonderful...NO HUMIDITY, but I cannot get my camper there!!!!!...:)JP
I don't like humidity at that level either. Bleh. We've had some humid days lately but 106 temps would make it miserable.

What a gorgeous coastline.. WOW, that header photo. Must be SOO refreshing to walk along that water with your feet right in it.

I hate humidity Denise. I'd love to have a little trailer and park it right next to yours.I love the coast. Except when there's a land breeze. I'm tired of being dripping wet every time I go outside and we've had a lot of that lately. Hopefully we are in for some relief. Enjoy your evening.

I don't do humid either . . . Iowa life taught me the realities of living with NO sleeping when the air was a heavy, humid mess!

I'd make your small trailer purchase immediately . . .

I live probably not too terribly far from where you grew up...a Nebraska neighbor...sounds like humidity abounds this year..between rain and irrigation it continues here...I'd take an ocean spray about now!

Yikes! Well, extreme cold and extreme heat can really be a bother a lot of times. Good thing their are airconditioning and heaters in a home, whic can always help us beat it to a punch. Stay safe!

Ocean breezes are a blessing in the summer. We don't get a lot of humidity here, but occasionally, and then it pretty much sucks. I couldn't live somewhere like the midwest or Florida where it's the norm...bleck! Love the header photo and your beach shots make me long for the ocean. Soon, very soon...

Dealing with humid weather is as hard as dealing with the winter cold. Taking a bath helps us cool down the feeling, but the best thing is still turning on your A/C. Hahaha! In any way, I hope that you're faring great, Denise! Thanks for sharing that! All the best to you!
