Day After Day

Alone on a hill.....lives this llama who tends his sheep at a nearby vineyard.

It's not unusual for people in this area to keep llamas as protection animals for goats or sheep.  They can be quite fierce against predators and easy keepers as well.   I'd love to get closeups of this guy's face but he lives behind a fence and I'm not sure I'd want to be that close anyway.   You know, the potential for spitting.

February turned out to be a relatively dry month with temperatures above normal for days on end.   It was beautiful and being outside was perfectly delightful.   I've stepped up my riding on Beau, now getting in 4 days a week instead of 1 or 2.   It's a good thing but may change once again as they are saying El Nino isn't yet finished with us.   March looks to be very different than February.

I've also been working on a sales video for Buddy.   I use iMovie and as I don't use it often, it always frustrates me when I open it and go to work.   It's really not intuitive for my brain but I managed to put some clips together, add music, and call it good enough.   The rider is Buddy's trainer.

I'm getting Spring fever to do a little updating in the house.   Nothing major, just some paint color changes in the bedrooms.   We also want/need a new rug in the living room.   Why are area rugs so expensive?   I understand if it's a nice wool rug made in another country, thick and made to last a hundred years.   But the basic rugs?   Makes no sense to me.   It's on the list and I haven't begun looking, but it's a good thing to do when the rains come again.

I hope you're seeing signs of Spring where you live.   I always look forward to all the photos of flowers that fill the blogs.   Have a nice day and thanks for stopping by.

Next week should be interesting, weather wise! I'm guessing you won't be riding much if the rain predictions are what Dave Hovde says they will be, so it might be a good time to paint! BTW, love your neighbor llama. I'd love to have one if I could avoid the spitting issue.

Buddy is a good looker . . .
I liked the video too . . .
Great weather sure does help me getting out and about . . .
Michigan weather is not always the best but
I grin and bear it at least once a day and walk outdoors
for at least thirty minutes.
Fresh flowers in the house and reading up on plants and flowers
helps me look forward to warmer, sunnier days.

Oh, wow...didn't know about the llamas. I knew about donkeys, but not llamas for protecting sheep and goats.

its still winter here .. snow is coming tomorrow ..thanks for sharing your sunshine
Spring is hovering but its still a bit too early to burst forth. Daffodils are blooming, though, and some of the trees have buds beginning to swell. Some of my perennials have a bit of green growth at the base but can't take off because we still get quite cool nights, sometimes below freezing. Another two or three weeks and pring will be underway big time here.

I've just got to comment on the spitting thing and llamas. They get so much unwarranted worry and concern from people about that. It is simply not true. Yes, they can and do spit - it's one of only a few defenses, but rarely do they spit if not either provoked or if they're protecting a baby. We used to have llamas and in many years and on many occasions where I probably deserved to be spit on, it only happened to be once. Ever. And that was an instance where my friend and I were trying to capture a newborn cria for dipping its' naval and getting a birth weight. Momma had had it and let me have it. Justified behavior. However, zoo animals are quite a different story. My own personal theory is that who knows what kind of behaviors from zoo goers that are inflicted upon the poor animals - being laughed at, stared at and other things I can only imagine. I'd spit too! They are very intelligent, kind, curious and gentle creatures. We loved having them. You're right about the protectors though - they can be fierce when it comes to predators. Their smell alone causes concern for mountain lions especially, they're not supposed to be on this continent and the cats don't recognize their odor. Interesting critters huh? Oh, on another topic - I am so jealous of your weather! We had a week of nice weather, but overall it's been rain and so much of it. *sigh* Oh well, at least it's warm and raining...could always be worse, right?

I love the Beatle song reference! I'm not a fan of llamas but alpacas...I would love to have a mini alpaca. Still in love with your header photo and wish I could take that drive to see it for myself.

I also used iMovie and have the same issue every time I start - I can't remember and it's not intuitive! I've started using the YouTube video editor instead, perhaps it's a little easier...
Your video turned out great all the same. Hope Buddy finds the right person.
