Are You Kidding Me?
We awoke yesterday morning to no internet...again. So I gave it until 9:00 to come back on, then put on my tech hat and prepared myself for a call with AT&T. I happened to get one of the best online tech support people ever. He spent an hour on the phone with me in every effort to restart our DSL. To no avail. After an hour and regrouping with more of his tech team, they tested the line and everything else. His team said that our equipment was older and most likely needed to be replaced. I told him I'd head out and purchase a new modem/router combo. He agreed to call me at noon our time, midnight his time.
After a bit of calling and driving around, we found a Netgear product at Staples and headed home. True to his word, my new friend in India called and talked me through the setup. Then we hit a glitch with the wireless and he said I would need to talk with Netgear directly since it wasn't an AT&T specific model (none of the stores had that model).
Okay then. On the phone with Netgear to complete something that should only take a few minutes. Another hour or more later, and trying every setting, their tech was baffled as to why we couldn't get internet connection. Believe me, I hadn't planned on spending my day doing hours of tech support and equipment shopping. I was doing all I could to remain calm and focused on finishing this job. I thanked him and sat there, staring at my screen, hoping I could get this working. So what did I do?
I called AT&T again. Hit the number to ask for tech support and it came back telling me that THERE IS AN AREA OUTAGE!!!!!! WTH!!!!! I think that sometime between my morning call with AT&T and my afternoon calls with AT&T/Netgear, the network crashed and we were spending hours trying to get the internet to work when THE NETWORK WAS DOWN!
It remained down through the night so it must have been something major. I woke up at 5:30, now 4:30, and the internet is working just fine.
I'm so glad I got this frustration off my mind so I can have an easy peasy day. Thanks for listening. Here is a pretty photo to make this post worth your time. This is a view from Ragged Point showing the stretch of Highway 1 that winds north toward Big Sur.
This is another stretch of Highway 1 and the view of our beautiful Pacific.
Here's wishing you a very happy Sunday and smooth internet sailing.

Wonderful, perfect photos . . . love your ocean edge pics.
and so BIG.
Well, at least you have the internet again. AND you had a good tech experience.
Love your photos.
My hubby and I drove those winding and hairpin curves on our way to Big Sur. The sights are so spectacular it's hard to keep your eyes on the road.
I was at the coast yesterday but only as far as Capitola. Which was like being in a sequel of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. I have never seen so many birds in one spot as I did in Capitola. Pelicans, seagulls and whatever the little black ones are. There was a bazillion of them in the water and on the sand. Creepy.
Your coast photos are candy to my eyes! Keep them coming!
